own life.

The article is devoted to the subculture of Russian antisemitism
(SRA, for short), and precisely, to the concrete episode dating to 1866
- 1868 and connected with the publication of J.Brafman’s works in the semi-official
newspaper "Vylensky vestnik" ("Herald of Vylen"). It
was they, in the author’s opinion, that started ideologically formed SRA
with its central myth about the Jews’ worked conspiracy.

The basis of the article consists of the secret documents of Soviet
censorial offices, which have been inaccessible in most cases for the researchers
until now. Their analysis gives the possibility to come to the conclusion
that officially inspired from the above, anti-Semitism, as well as the
Great Terror, began in the USSR in the mid-thirties when the "Jewish
problem" was declared non-existent.

IN THE EPOCH OF ITS OFFICIAL NON-EXISTENCE IN RUSSIA
It is shown in the article how and why Jewish professional music
didn’t stop its existence notwithstanding the simulation of its non-existence
in Russia after World War II and in spite of the State’s effort to suppress
it. Besides, the author retraces the fortune of Jewish musical heritage
of the totalitarian epoch and sets tasks how to preserve and increase it.
