Jewish Heritage Society provides scholarly assistance to professors,
lecturers and instructors teaching Jewish history and Jewish thought
at more than 60 institutions of higher education in the former Soviet
Union.
This work aimed at the development of Jewish Studies in academic and
educational settings in the CIS and the Baltic countries is well
underway. There is an active collaboration between the Society and Jewish
educational and research institutions of the former Soviet Union:
Moscow Center for University teaching of Jewish civilization
"Sefer", Jewish universities in Moscow and St.Petersburg,
Institute of Judaica in Kiev, and many others.
To advance the teaching of Jewish studies in universities
throughout the FSU the JHS started a program of publishing syllabi of
courses in Judaica. The Society is planning to introduce the FSU scholars,
teachers and students to courses in Judaica offered at universities
worldwide. The JHS solicits contributions to this project: syllabi of
courses in the field of Jewish studies taught at any university
(on undergraduate or graduate level). Any supplementary material -
auxiliary bibliographies and reading lists, reference and study
materials - would be also appreciated.
The collected material will be promptly made available for scholars and
students of Judaica in the FSU and throughout the world on the Society's
website.
Submissions for syllabi publication project as well as any of your
comments and suggestions should be sent to Jewish Heritage Society
at heritage@glasent.ru.
