Directory and bibliography of documentary sources on Jewish history in archives of the former USSR
includes listings of over one thousand archival files in state repositories of more than 60 cities
throughout the CIS and the Baltic states including extensive and valuable collections in the State
Archive of Russian Federation (GARF) and the former Communist party archives (RTsKhIDNI and TsKhSD)
in Moscow, the Russian State Historical Archive (RGIA) in St. Petersburg, the Central State Historical
Archive of Ukraine in Kiev and Lvov, the State Historical Archive of Lithuania in Vilnius and many others.
Most of the directory entries are annotated and supplemented by bibliographic reference to publications
using archival documents. The publications are retrieved from the contemporary scholarship in the field
published in Russia: "Jewish archive" series of the Jewish Heritage Society,
"Herald of Jewish University in Moscow" and publications of the
"Proceedings in Judaica" of the St. Petersburg Jewish University.
