The revival of Jewish scholarship in the CIS and the Baltic states
has already produced dozens of research articles, monographs,
bibliographies and source studies. These enthusiastic efforts
demanded prompt publication. This demand was met by the JHS Preprints and reprints
series program. It takes only a couple of months for an article
to be published as a preprint and to be distributed among 500
subscribers of the Society - individual scholars, research institutions,
libraries, and archives all over the world. The Society also accepts
previously published scholarly works for reprint publication.
The JHS Preprints and reprints series attracted attention of many Judaica
scholars in Russia, Moldova, Ukraine, Belarus and the Baltics.
The authors are especially enthusiastic about the fact that their
research would not have to wait years for publication in a scholarly
journal. It is also very important for scholars to discover a
certain demand for their intellectual product and that they could
expect possible feedback from colleagues working in the field.
The program also contributes to establishing professional ties
among scholars and fosters a vigorous exchange of ideas and discoveries.
