Jewish Heritage Society is building up an electronic library of Jewish
scholarship. The purpose of the library is to accumulate and to make
available through the Internet a variety of sources and research on
Jewish history and culture in Eastern Europe. The electronic library is
intended for scholarly use by research and academic community.
This work was started in 1995 when the JHS web site with a few
of its publications appeared on the Internet. Presently over
145 titles of preprints and reprints, archival surveys and finding aids,
bibliographies, information bulletins, research monographs, university
syllabi and other JHS publications are available on the web.
In 1997 the sizeable amount of research material (22 back issues of the
major Russian-language research series on Jewish history and culture) was
contributed to the JHS for electronic publication by Jewish University in
Moscow, St. Petersburg Jewish University, Institute of Judaica in Kiev and
Association of Moscow Jewish Studies Students.
