The Center was established in Moscow in December 1991. It aimed at creation of documented history of Holocaust in the former USSR. The Center develops projects on research, exploration of sources at museums and archives, education, publication.
Alla Gerber, writer and member of Russian parliament, is a president of the Center.
In 1995 the Center started series "Russian library of Holocaust". A few books have been published in the series already, a monograph "Echoes of Holocaust and Jewish question in Russia" by the Center's founder M.Gefter including. The following publications are expected to appear in the series soon:
